Coding & Robotics for Primary Schools

A complete in-school programme for Grade 1–8: curriculum, trained instructors, robotics kits and teacher training. Built for Kenyan schools, aligned to CBC, and already running competitions with JKUAT.

What pupils learn, grade by grade

Content steps up with the grade, so a pupil who starts in Grade 1 keeps building rather than repeating.

Foundations

Grade 1–3

Ages 6–8

  • Block coding in Scratch Jr and Scratch
  • Sequencing, loops and simple logic
  • Building simple mechanisms with motors
  • Digital safety and screen habits

By the end: Pupils build and explain a working animated story or simple game.

Building

Grade 4–6

Ages 9–11

  • Scratch projects with variables and conditionals
  • Arduino basics: LEDs, buzzers, sensors
  • Robot assembly and line-following
  • Introduction to 3D design

By the end: Teams build a sensor-driven robot and present how it solves a real problem.

Applying

Grade 7–8

Ages 12–13

  • Text-based coding foundations
  • Arduino projects with multiple sensors
  • Introduction to AI concepts and datasets
  • 3D printing a project part
  • Competition preparation

By the end: Pupils enter a national competition such as Robocon Kenya with a documented project.

Trained instructors

Onboarding workshop plus termly refreshers. No prior coding experience needed.

Certificates at the end of each level, and a portfolio of projects pupils can show.

Competition pathway

Entry and coaching for national events including Robocon Kenya, held with JKUAT.

How it runs

    Free demo lesson

    We run one live session with a class at your school, at no cost. You see the pupils' reaction before committing.

    Agree the plan

    Choose grades, session length and whether sessions sit inside the timetable or in club time. Most schools start with one 60-minute session per week.

    Set up and train

    Kits delivered, teachers trained, schemes of work handed over before the first lesson.

  4. 4

    Termly delivery

    Weekly sessions with progress reports each term, and a showcase for parents at the end of the year.

From classroom to national competition

Primary school teams from the programme enter Robocon Kenya, the national robotics and AI challenge KyriosLearn runs with JKUAT at Juja. Pupils present a project they built themselves and are judged alongside high school and university teams.
